An Independent Vision

Palos Verdes Arts Center,
Beckstrand Gallery

Palos Verdes
(1960)
Anders Aldrin was the featured artist at the Palos Verdes Arts Center, 5504 West Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The one-person exhibition began March 16 and ended April 27, 1996. Located in the Center's Beckstrand Gallery, the showing included approximately 33 of Aldrin's works from the 1930s to the 1960s. The Center presented a selection of oils, watercolors, and pastels and featured a number of his paintings of Sweden. At the same time, the Arts Center showed approximately 24 of Aldrin's woodblock prints in the Norris Film Gallery downstairs.

On Friday, March 15, 1996, Vincent Aldrin gave a pre-reception talk at the Center, sharing stories and memories of his life as the son of the Swedish-born artist who painted in the Los Angeles area, including Palos Verdes, from the 1930s to the 60s. As part of the "Tuesdays at One" Lecture Series, Janet Blake, noted curator and art historian, gave a talk entitled, Anders Aldrin: An Independent Vision.
